CARPE DIEM

"Where there is no vision, the people perish
Proverbs 29:18"

Let us mourn of our death. The death of the youth, for we no longer value or insights and the quality of our lives.
I am placed in various situations already where youths should have been the forerunners. But the truth is we, the youths prefer to be just behind the scene. We just don't care enough.

A lot of systems in our community need changes. We do complain a lot, no doubt about that, this could only mean that we feel, we discern and we realize that something is wrong. Do know that grumbling alone will not change anything. Are we so    pathetic not to do anything about the things we complain about? Are we so naive to think that we are not personally or permanently affected?

We are the youth, we are the future. But we do not prepare for it. We will end up becoming the adults that we complain about today. The hard fact of this cycle is that we actually do not end up on the same spot that they  are but on somewhere worse.

We are wasting time and our world is aging as all things are. We cannot expect everything to be just grand and dandy because one way or another, things would get worse unless we do something for the better instead of resorting to dumb mumblings.

We do not take action. We let things be; maybe we play for change, but God does not really care for grumbling fools who just wait for His hand to move. We should not expect for a superhero to come save the day. We are supposed to be that superhero.

Our youthfulness is power and with this, is responsibility; we should live life responsibly because we are given the energy and vitality to be productive. The irony there is that the youth, we, abuse our youthfulness because in our twisted way of thinking, "we should maximize this by enjoying our youthfulness to the fullest through foolish, senseless, wasteful and abusive ways".

We are a bunch of wasted energy. We wake up late, we sleep very late, why exactly? We do what exactly? Surf the net, play computer games, have scandalous nights in bars; we do drugs, we smoke, we swim in alcohol; ear splitting sound trips, movie marathon plus junk food engorging. I need not elaborate. But doing these most nights is just plain waste; of money; of our energy, our vitality, of our health, our brains, our youthfulness.

We do not exercise, we do not read books unless required, we do not write, we do not volunteer, we do not eat healthy, more so drink healthy, we do not make a change for the betterment of our community. We do not participate, we do not clean, we do not help care for our environment, we do not make creative thing that are worth the while. We don't spread God's love.

Seizing the day does not only mean to enjoy it, but actually having something good to show for it.

When was the last time you did something like a video, or a song, an essay, a painting, a sketch, even cooked a proper meal?

How long has it been since you participated in something voluntarily and do not because you were required to do so?

Have you ever voluntarily given blood? Planted a tree? read the bible?

When was the last last time you seized the day?
