BREAKTHROUGH 2012
"And I
tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and
the gates of hell will not overcome it. I
will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on
earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will
be loosed in heaven.” Matthew 16:18-19
Having Peter as my name? What a pressure. I sometimes felt the words of Jesus when He spoke to Simon Peter as if He was speaking to me. Not to mention God’s promises to Peter, what a predicament. Peter, a choleric but an impulsive guy, having his “yes” as a “no”, and his “no” as a “yes”. Too bad. He even despised Jesus. But despite of all his imperfections, he has the heart, the heart to submit, to humble, the heart to lead and the heart to change the world.
Changing the world is changing you. You can’t be a conqueror outside if not first on the inside. All about breakthrough.
Breakthrough is something like gaining an important discovery. Somewhat like Sir Isaac Newton when he discovered his law of universal gravitation. Newton gained something that leads him to penetration of a barrier such as an enemy’s defense. A barrier that results to a strategic action, delivering a decisive blow. THUS achieving success. It all boils down to success. There
are many areas in our lives that we need to breakthrough; in spiritual, discipleship,
winning atmosphere, finances, family values and community influence.
As part of an intentional discipleship, a strategic action was amplified. Like I said; there are many areas in my life that I need to breakthrough, writing it all down? Books could not contain it. To be specific, my leader tasked me to focus on six things. Six major things I want to breakthrough in my life. It starts with:
1. Relationship with my God.
It is right and reasonable for us to revere God. Revering God means paying attention to him and moving in the direction that He wants us to go. The more we do this, the more we reach our full potential as human beings because God created us to live in active relationship with Him, with Him leading and us following. God gave us the right to control our own lives. But when we do it without recognizing God’s existence, we became a failure.
-Running on Empty
2. Relation with my Pastor as my discipler and to my disciples.
We need to understand the rights of a firstborn. The power of submission and we will see our double portion of blessings. One thing I know for sure, a man can't get the answer on his own. Only masculinity can bestow masculinity. A man must be initiated by another man. Deep inside, every man knows there is a right of passage. There is a journey that involves real risk to find his true self. (the divine matchmaker). It requires intentional. It requires intimacy which means“in-to-me-see”, allowing your leader to see the “you” in you, allowing your leader to break the “you” and transform it into “HIM” (Jesus).
3. Finances
Even as a student, it is not an excuse for us having financial failures. I find it important to be a good steward. It’s not about saving for the future, but it’s all about knowing how to manage money. We must understand that power of sowing is just equivalent to the power of giving.
4. Lust
“In the spring, at the time when kings go off to war, David sent Joab out with the king’s men and the whole Israelite army. They destroyed the Ammonites and besieged Rabbah. But David remained in Jerusalem. One evening David got up from his bed and walked around on the roof of the palace. From the roof he saw a woman bathing. The woman was very beautiful, 3 and David sent someone to find out about her. The man said, “She is Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam and the wife of Uriah the Hittite.” 4 Then David sent messengers to get her. She came to him, and he slept with her.” 2Samuel 11
One common mistake, David remained, David saw a naked woman. Then David anticipated, the cycle of sin.
Lust, every man’s downfall, it takes an increment of self-denial. This how I understand the significance of being a “COMER”. Being a Comer is being a follower. It’s like a “soldier and a General” relationship, a soldier understand his purpose, leaving what is behind and straining towards victory, has nothing to do with idleness. Being ALERT at all times. Being self-controlled. Always in a battle mode with his battle gear on. A soldier must master the traps of his enemy, the skills of his enemy. A soldier must have good communication with his team., must be CONNECTED to the General. God will honor man having a heart like a soldier. But above all else, It’s the cross, the blood of the Lamb that takes away every man’s downfall.
5.
Music
Music brings a big factor in my daily life. I really like its definition; Music is an art form whose medium is sound and silence. SILENCE, I so love silence, where I can hear clearly the essence of sound. As part of praise and worship team in our Church, I must be musically inclined, I must be Spiritually mature and Skilfully mature, for both are inseparable. Skilfully mature can be achieved by correct practice. For a beginner, having a seprah time at least 1 hour a day, having a lifestyle of listening Christian songs and reading different song writers/composers biographies. Against such things, you will only be a performer.
6.
Healthy lifestyle
Say hello to Richard, Our model for having a healthy lifestyle, by looking upon his life, I can see discipline. He taught me so many things, especially the food I intake. He introduced to me vegetables. He taught me how to say goodbye to meat. He taught me the correct principles of performing weights (work outs).
